Price Historical Park
Price Historical Park is the home of the historic ranch and 1893 Price Anniversary House belonging to John Price, the founder of Pismo Beach.
First known as a vaquero, Juan Miguel Prais ran cattle on Rancho Pismo as majordomo for Isaac Sparks. He settled his wife Maria Andrea Carlon and their young family into old adobes on the rancho. California was just becoming a state at this time.
As American statehood settled over California, John Michael Price readopted his English name and language, established Rancho del Pizmo, and founded the town of Pizmo.
A visit to the old ranch grounds is a step back into history featuring a windmill, an orchard, old farm implements, a butterfly garden, remnants of the old stone corrals, as well the Price Anniversary House and the Meherin House.
Price Historical Park is on land that was once a part of the historic Pórtola trail, the Anza trail, and the El Camino Real. Next to the park, one can see the remains of the old adobes where Price and his family lived for many years.
